Flirting
Cambridge defines it as to behave as if sexually attracted to someone, although not seriously.
In a 2004 review of the literature on flirting, Professor David Henningsen identified six different motivations for why people flirt:
1. Sex
2. Fun
3. Exploration
4. Relational
5. Self Esteem
6. Instrumental: trying to get something from the other person
Studies show that women initiate flirting 90% of the time. Social Media is a major vehicle for flirting and expressing interest in a potential partner.
Flirting is very often viewed as fun and playful, but it’s anything but meaningless!
Even young people in the church flirt when they serve together in activities or when attending meetings or worship.
Flirting is seen as normal in the secular world, many see it as innocent playful fun. Is it ok for a Christian to flirt?
